The Covington Vice Stroll is a two-hour walking tour through 150 years of bootlegging and gambling history. Covington once was one of the nation’s most criminally corrupt cities, right up there with neighboring Newport and Hot Springs, Arkansas; Biloxi, Mississippi; and, Phenix City, Alabama. Unlike Newport, though, Covington was more than just another sin city. Innovations in gambling technologies put Covington in a class all its own.
Participants will see the sites where gambling and booze entrepreneurs worked, played, and lived. They’ll visit casinos and corner bars where local and national history was made. Covington’s rich architectural history also gets highlighted as the tour winds its way through historic residential neighborhoods and the downtown commercial district. There are more than a dozen sites to take in.
Unless otherwise specified, all tours begin at 10am.
Each tour is limited to 25 participants.
Cost: $20
